Best selling Author & Fussy Eating Consultant Claire Potter

I’m a parent to a boy and a girl, one adopted, one home-made.

My own childhood was full of tensions, tears and battles around the family dinner table. My mum and dad were of the if-you-don’t-eat-it-now-you’ll-have-it-for-breakfast school of parenting! When I had children of my own, I was determined right from the start to make our family dinner table a happy, relaxed place.

So I set myself a parenting challenge: to create children who were unfussy eaters. I wanted them to see all food – not just chips and ice-cream – as one of life’s biggest pleasures.

I had a big think and came up with a plan. An approach. A system. It worked.

My son has always eaten absolutely everything that is put in front of him – except raw tomato. My daughter is happy with whatever comes her way – but won’t touch beetroot. Mmm... but wasn’t that just some lucky fluke, you may be thinking?! To put it to the test, before writing my book Getting the Little Blighters to Eat, I consulted at length with a leading NHS Specialist Paediatric Dietitian. She verified that my approach was the bedrock of the way she worked with parents of fussy eaters in clinic and the details were entirely in line her experience, expertise and up-to-date research into children and eating.

I am not a talented cook (I regularly hard boil a soft-boiled egg and make a right old mess of chopping up a mango!). Neither am I OCD about healthy eating (sweets are not banned!).

But I believe it’s really important that family mealtimes are happy and stress-free and children eat and enjoy a varied, nutritious diet. After all, their bones, their brains, their everything, are not just being fed – they’re still being made!

FAQ's

Still have questions about the programme? Get all your answers below!

  • What age children is Tiny Bites aimed at?

Tiny Bites is for you if your fussy eater is between 1 and 10 years old – but the younger they are, the better! This is because an 8 year old has had a lot more years to ‘solidify’ their fussiness than a 3 year old! In fact, if you are only at the beginning of your weaning journey with your baby, you could use Tiny Bites to pre-arm yourself to prevent fussy eating developing in the first place.

  • I have more than one fussy eater! Can I still use Tiny Bites?

Absolutely! You can put the programme into action with two or more children at the same time. And if you have an unfussy child alongside your fussy one(s), you can follow the programme with them too to make food and mealtimes a more positive experience for the whole family.

  • How quickly will I see improvements in my child’s eating?

It typically only takes a week or two to notice a big difference in how much happier and more relaxed mealtimes are once you’ve put Step 1 into action. From that point onwards, lick by nibble, chomp by munch, you’ll gradually start to notice positive changes in your child’s eating and behaviour around food. However, the biggest changes will come after you have completed the whole programme and put all three steps into action. If your child has been fussy for three years, it won’t take three weeks to ‘undo’ this but stick consistently to everything you’ve learnt and month by month their eating will improve in bigger and bigger leaps!

  • My child has autism, OCD, ARFID or another condition which causes or exacerbates their fussy eating. Is the programme still suitable?

Tiny Bites has been created for parents with typical fussy eaters: children who ate a wide range of foods as a baby and became fussy somewhere between 18 months and 2.5 years old. A child with an extra condition may require extra help or therapy.

  • What if I don’t have time for a long course?

We get it—parenting is busy! That’s why the course is broken down into short, bite-sized lessons that you can fit into your day whenever it suits you. Plus, you can go at your own pace! By the end of the programme, you will have everything concretely in place to turn your child into an unfussy eater.

  • I’ve tried everything. How is this different?

We hear you! So many approaches rely on bribing, sneaky tricks, or just swapping in new recipes—but those are only quick fixes. Tiny Bites is different. It’s a science-backed, proven 3-step system designed to tackle fussy eating at its root. No gimmicks, no pressure—just real, lasting change for happier mealtimes.

  • Do I need to be a great cook?

Nope! This course isn’t about fancy recipes or spending hours in the kitchen. It’s about mindset, habits, and simple techniques that make mealtimes smoother—no chef skills required!

  • Can both parents or caregivers take the course?

Yes! Once you enrol, the whole household can benefit!

  • How do I access the course?

Once you sign up, you’ll get instant access to the course videos and materials, which you can watch on any device at any time that suits you.
